Is this possible? How difficult is it to switch domains at Google? Thanks!
You joining Google hw?
No.. Just wanted to know
You will prolly have to go through a full SWE loop.
Full SWE loop. Guaranteed. Switching ladders is like coming in as an external candidate
This isn't really accurate. There are differing criteria depending on what ladder you are switching from, but if you are already in a technical role, then it's going to be fewer interviews than an external candidate.
Yeah, but the point is you still get LC
From personal experience moved from hw to sw externally and didn't got any immigration issue. Also got new I-140 with old priority date. I hv CE degree but I don't see issue with EE degree. It would be better to check with immigration lawyer at Intel instead of half cooked knowledge ppl.
Can you elaborate more? Like to what domain in sw?
Is salary lesser in Google HW?
keep away from hardware as far as possible
Dude you’re thinking too far, first focus on getting into Google and then about transitioning into SW/ML/AI/Data Science/Analytics etc etc You must have the skills sets to make a transition No one will hire you without the right skills set, make sure you have those covered Don’t think of yourself as some Lord just like we all do at Intel and that you can BS your way into everything and anything at Google It’s Google boss!
Dude chill
Generally the technical contributors at Intel are not the ones full of BS

Just wondering if you are on H1b , how to handle immigration situation with out CS degree
Yeah h1b, I know people who switched from hw to sw with CE degree. Mine's EE. Not sure how that would pan out
I am in a similar situation, looks like H1b can be denied with out a CS degree
