How does one make the change? Any suggestions? I’d love to work at a VC or tech incubator
If you have to ask it’s not going to happen
What is VC?
Someone who humiliates your idea to get a better percentage.
Venture Capital
Go to HBS or GSB, be top of your class, and work your way up as an analyst. Or start a company worth hundreds of millions of dollars. That's about it for your options.
Do analysts ever make it to partner? Most of the ones I know leave after two years (and yes, some even go to sales roles). Most new partners are long-tenured tech execs these days.
A few do. And yeah I forgot the third path :-p
I just did that. Are you an eng? DM and we can talk.
Hi Andrew
Oh, you found me.
Network network network. Junior guys have banking or consulting backgrounds. Middle guys come from top b schools. If you don't have this pedigree, your big option is to show you can source deals. You can do this if your rolodex runs deep
Why would you want to?
Plug n Play - if Bay Area.
Quite honestly, you should only do this in Bay Area. Even Seattle is not on the same level.
You either start out of college, or make your way up through angel investing
Following are few ways - 1.Get rich and start your VC firm 2. Become tech founder, get in VC circle and impress them 3. Do both of above
Ask kleiner how he did it
john doerr did it. worked out well for him too
