Hey y’all, a colleague of mine is interested in interviewing at Cisco for a director position. They’ve learned of two different systems design interviews, one focused on architecture and another with a non-abstract focus. Does anybody have insight into what attributes are emphasized / expected in these interviews or how they differ? Colleague is certainly qualified and I’m sure able to do well, but of course interested in any preparatory suggestions folks may have. Blind tax: L6 380k LCOL 25yoe #cisco #ciscocareers
That depends on which org the position belongs to. As Cisco is primarily a networking company, you may expect network architecture in your system design interview not necessarily telecom architecture like 5g. Would not be a problem for him if he is already CCNA.
Thanks! The role/org is a little less networks focused / more APIs and integration focused. One of the interviews is “architecture” and the other is something like “theoretical/technical”. Our guess was that one would be more behavioral and the other more like Google’s NALSD. We weren’t sure if these might include explicit behavioral questions or expect an implicit signal in that domain. “Use best judgment” makes sense; neither of us have interviewed in 5-10 years, so maybe this is trying to be over-prepared? Appreciate any feedback.
For which BU?
It depends upon team/bu
