TC: 100K new grad, what to do next?

First job out of college. Currently making a little less than 100k TC in New York. Should I stick it out? For how long? I mean what are the chances that I'll be a partner? Saw that some people like to move from consulting to product? Is this a good choice? How long do I need to stick around for my experience here to matter for other opportunities? Would like to hear about other peoples' career progression from strategic consulting...

Yeah you can be partner... if you sacrifice your prime years of your life slogging away in consulting for the next decade. Get out after 1-2 years

OP this is a myth. 10yrs later you will realize TC is life and regret not taking a shot at partner. Do it. Now or never.

In the 10 years it takes to make partner OP will be underpaid and overworked. Consulting is not high TC unless you are a partner.

Out of curiosity what’s your day to day actually like? Does it vary widely company to company / division to division? How technical and/or client facing is the role? I have no interest in ever doing it but I am still curious nonetheless.

I am worried at your perception already .... you are fresh out of college ... imbibe the ethics of attaining success through hard work and productivity. You will not share the same journey as the people you are seeking advice from.

2 years in any role is a good rule, if you move around too much employers might not take the risk on you

Hiring cost can be 150k ? Where did you get that number from?

ING Group UBwD66 Jun 19, 2019

Can't find where I read that but seeing much lower numbers, revised accordingly

Don’t do consulting—worst job ever

Can someone get some numbers around partner TC at a big 3 ? My guess is that the path to get there is opaque, and lots of people put the time and effort in ( making something like 80k in a high COLA area) and just never get it.
