I’m contemplating going back to India but i feel I’d seriously miss out on TC. However, consider 2 cases - Earning in USA and staying in USA. Earning in India and staying in india. Would it even matter? I feel us tc is higher because of the col and once i have kids/wife I’d save less anyways. Isn’t it the same in india too? Tc:125k, yoe:2
Which city in india?
Hyd/Blr. Depends on opportunities
It is a personal decision. There best you can do for kids and family is to put them in right environment and surroundings.
It's a very personal decision. Blind comments can't help IMO
You've worked hard to get where you are. You earn, you save, you can afford living a good life. And a good life is more than just TC numbers. Think of what matters most to you and optimize it :)
From savings perspective you can still have good savings. My friend with 9 yow in bangalore got offer from from one of the well known company. Combining his RSU's it's coming close to 50 lacks rupees. So there many companies which are paying good salary in india now if you are not considering traffic and dust. Other than traffic and dust (this issue is only in big cities) life will be luxurious if you can get good package. Family, friends, festival. So rank your priorities and decide.
You will have more affordability in India. In US you are caught up in immigration, higher cost of living etc.. I don’t think US has better quality of life. Medical sucks, commute in Bay Area is as bad as any Indian city, ppl are forced to buy shitty homes for million dollars
Insurance covers medical bills, traffic is fine as long as there’s no pollution. You can always stay closer to office. Why do you’ve to buy a house? Why not just rent it and retire somewhere cheaper?
Traffic in bay area is still lot lot better than almost all major indian cities. Ppl who complain about bay area traffic havent seen traffic in india. On a 1-10 scale of stress in traffic, bay area is like 5, and most indian cities are 8-10. Banglare especially is easily 11+
So here's my 2 cents. I lgrew up in India, worked in Dubai , went to grad school in the US and have been working for the past 2 years in the US. I ask a lot of people this question when they contemplate staying vs going back. If $1USD= 1 INR would you still be here, If the answer is No I would say leave if you get a decent TC in India.
Interesting observation
I think good answer.. it boils down to happiness
Quality of life in big indian cities is horrible. Traffic, pollution are the big problems
There are issues here too - gun culture, homelessness, mugging etc. I think I’d prefer a polluted place than a place where there’s no safety of life.
Judging by your comments. I think you have made up your mind already. Good luck 👍🏻
Also worth considering the fact that purchasing power of your TC is likely higher in India, if you're generally frugal (depending on your social circles, this maybe easier in India), not particularly materialistic, and don't want to settle in a tier 1 city eventually. Although not great for the country, you also gain a lot from the social inequality. You're certainly going to be amongst the tail 0.01% or whatever in terms of income and wealth, which comes with its benefits. I moved out of Bangalore, and really miss life there. The 200 varieties of chai for 20Rs, the food, the sheer chaos, randomness and low downside to taking entrepreneurial risks. Pollution, traffic etc. - I never really had issues with that while I was in Bangalore, you cope and become resilient to it to some extent - I'd spent 2 years in some shady parts of Mumbai, which was even worse. However, when I go back now, I feel that life in a first-world country has made me fragile.

Your quality of life is what u should consider. And there are pros and cons of both. So think about that
I grew up in India and I’m used to the chaos and pollution. I know quality of life here is better, but if i have money in india - i can have good food, good water and good air (put filters at home?) . So would it make a difference?
Also consider quality of life for your future family. Kids growing up here as opposed to India. Have known people do that and some are fine with it and some regretted it immensely.
