Hey Y’all, I’m a soon-to-be grad going into software engineering. I have around 1.5 years of experience with 1 year at a startup and 6 months at my current company. A lot of my experience is is Web Development. I’m graduating in December and have had some good progress getting into Google, but I am not sure they’re going to extend an offer. Since I need a job upon graduation (thanks student loans) I need a job. The current company I am at really likes me and asked me to give them a number for salary. How much should I tell them? And do you all have any negotiation tips? I live in Austin
How do you have years of experience if you are graduating. Is this MS? Dont count internships as your yoe like an idiot You tell them the amount you are willing to get + 30%. Do basic research. Does school not teach you this?
Don’t call them idiot. No reason to insult. How was ur coffee today morning ?
Its better to be called an idiot online than an idiot in person, when this person introduces himself as 1.5 yoe counting his internships, people will laugh internally
Read this https://haseebq.com/my-ten-rules-for-negotiating-a-job-offer/ I am really tired of posting this so many times. It should be pinned somewhere on blind.
Great post! Thank you very much!
For Google, new grad TC negotiation depends on: your interview rating; your Google intern rating if you have one; and comparable competing offers.
