Most jobs even today are still Java based (Scala increasing). It seems like Python is in the backseat, though I know it's mostly used in Data Science now. I'm curious if there are any companies that are a Python specific stack, or if your team runs solely on Python, and with TC>250ish. NYC examples would be greatly appreciated. Edit : I'm not saying the entire company must be built on Python. Just one that uses it primarily, if that makes sense. #engineering #software #swe
Unless you’re a core language or framework contributor, if a company is paying you over a quarter million they probably expect you to solve problems, not just write code in a single language when told. While primarily writing Python myself I’d expect anyone at the senior-staff+level to move/learn languages as needed. You get paid the big bucks to not complain about tech but use the right tools and make a big impact. I guarantee every FAANG uses a variety of languages but Google comes to mind as having more Python than, say, Microsoft.
You’d also be surprised how many highly compensated roles would involve coding Rust, Go, Clojure, Ruby, and JS. It’s definitely not just Java.
Why insist on the python stack? Learning Java is so easy.
Just a preference
Its easier to be flexible if you want money.
Language is just syntax , get over it and try to use right tools/languages to solve the problem. Broaden your skills and try to learn other languages..... Soon you will have 250k in your rear view mirror
