Got offer from Intuit for Senior Software Engineer. They want to have Compensation Negotiation on call with me. Could anyone guide me what should I ask for? New position: Location: Mountain View (CA) Current Position: YOE: 10 years TC: 121K No other offer in hand. Applied for Senior, after phone screen they upgraded my profile to Staff. Further interviews for Staff position but they offered SSE in end.
Do not commit to anything in the call. Take ur time to respond.
Ok... Let's say they ask me for numbers.... My expectation.... Any idea how should I respond?
For the love of god read this https://www.kalzumeus.com/2012/01/23/salary-negotiation/
You can check on Levels.fyi for similar role and location wise avg salary and ask for the same with some buffer. Don’t commit on number tell the % e.g. maybe 50% hike on salary.
https://www.levels.fyi/company/Intuit/salaries/Software-Engineer/Senior-Software-Engineer/ says 219K. I will skip the 50% hike part lol. My current TC is 120K only.
Make sense 👍
350+
Seems like they pay 290 to Staff 😁
Not true. If you think you did well in the interviews, don’t give them a number first. Let them come up with numbers . Intuit is struggling to hire candidates. Convey on a good note that if you give me 350+, I would be happy to accept the offer.
Can you share craft round experience?
It was not possible to finish Craft demo in 90 minutes time. I came up with partial working demo. They will go through architecture of your Craft, cross questions etc. They may also ask you to code in live during those discussions.
They are going to send me 24 hrs prior to interview , I will need to run and show the project there. So is there any back end also required like sql or do we need to have unit test etc
Do not share current TC, and best negotiation is bring compete offer on the table. I have seen Intuit up band and TC hike after competing. Good luck on negotiations.
Make sense. So if they ask my expectation, I will politely say that I will prefer to know the Intuit offer first and then decide.
They would not negotiate my base... 'based on equity in the team' they did flex sign on bonus and equity.
Any idea how much should I ask for?
Depends on what is important to you esp since equity requires you to vest it and you don't start vesting til after your cliff. In retrospect i would have: Gone in with a TC in mind (Base+Bonus+Equity) Asked about the band for base salary Asked about how the calibrated/Leveled me in the band (for base salary) Asked for the difference in equity if they're not willing to meet my base salary needs and assuming at minimum I'd get an 80% multiplier on my bonus at year end Feel free to DM me with more questions
ALSO. if you expected to be staff and they down leveled you and you think you're capable at staff, get a milestone plan written and included in your offer so that they must reevaluate you at the 6 month review (nominations in October, prolly too late depending on your start) and EOY review (nominations in March, more likely) Staff is much harder to get a promo because it's not just up to your manager, you need 'visibility' across the business at minimum to have people who will sponsor/ vouch.
Sure. Actually I applied for Senior but after my phone screen they upgraded my position for Staff. My further interview rounds were conducted for Staff position. But then again offered Senior.
🤘 good luck!
This is what was offered to my friend in Bayarea recently $160k to $170k Base, $250k to $300k RSU. Joining bonus don’t remember @joopla
Team was Identity Team by the way
This is for senior??

L4 Google -> 45 interviews, 5 offers, AMA
What numbers did they give?
Absolutely nothing... They just sent email saying they will call to negotiate compensation. It's my first big firm offer, so not sure what to do.
