I'm currently at Meta and have an opportunity at Applied Intuition, an AV tech startup. Can someone give me a TLDR on their outlook, growth, IPO/acquisition, and if it's a good place to work. Seems like a lot of ex-Google there. YOE: 8 TC: 230k
@Gsin34 perfect 👍. It’s a sham company … they just boast a lot on their capabilities but behind the scenes it’s totally different. Copied culture .. micro managers … no structure at All .
The company's growth is quite rapid, with increasing revenue and more employees, so there's no need to worry about that. If you enjoy working hard, putting in about 50 hours a week in a fast-paced environment, it will be a great fit for you. If you decide to join as an IC, be ready to be supervised by a junior manager, typically someone with around three years of experience since college, who puts in even more hours than you, usually 60 to 70 hours a week.
@pbxy82, i didn't get your comment " If you decide to join as an IC, be ready to be supervised by a junior manager, typically someone with around three years of experience since college" https://www.appliedintuition.com/careers This is taken straight from their careers webpage: "Take your career forward at Applied. Working on a growing team in a fast-paced environment means that you will have significant ownership of your projects from day one with mentorship from industry veterans." does "Industry veterans" EQUATE TO "junior manager, typically someone with around three years of experience" I am confused about who those industry veterans are.......
"a growing team in a fast-paced environment" is mostly true. "significant ownership" is also true. "Mentorship from industry veterans" often not true.
Probably best growth company in Silicon Valley today if you are looking for career opportunities and business outlook. They work a lot and sacrifice for the business. Not the best place to join if you are after a chill work environment and flexibility on stuff like remote work. Tradeoffs are obvious- if you are after personal growth then it's a top choice, if you're after WLB then join something slower.
This must be HR at AI 👋👋
At applied engineers act as sales and marketing representatives using their old companies id’s mostly Google. They never use AI account to promote 🫢
You’re the same person who comments the same things on every Applied post, but without any hard facts — not too sure what Applied did to you (maybe you got rejected?) but I think the facts have been pretty consistent from employees: - Applied is a hard place to work compared to most of tech, you’re expected to work 50 hours a week, and many work more than that. Depending on your priorities in life this might not be a place for you, and we do make that clear during the recruiting process. - The flip side to that is that we’ve done pretty well, and opportunities for advancement are plentiful as a growing company. If you survey top investors, they’ll say the same things about Applied. I use my Google account because that’s the Blind account I’ve had and there’s no reason to make another one?
@sb4jd2mc8d, I didn’t even know what applied does until they came to sell their tools with the quote “99% of autonomy still needs to be unlocked”? So how do you know it’s 99%? And how can Waymo, Zoox, Cruise, Tesla, etc. were able to test autonomous robot taxis? Did they use your toolchains to unlock the rest 99%? Your team enforces one opinion on the entire company ( I know a lot of people working there) that the company is great … Did your company help NHTSA validate any submissions? How many patents or problems have you solved and who in the industry is talking about your solutions?
good co w/ promising upside. You get out what you put in; not a place for those who want to rest and vest lol
What’s the TC range?
Would recommend if you are willing to sacrifice working extra hours for career growth.
Is revenue on up or down trend?
Def up
According to friend currently working there: Toxic environment, long hours and weekends, 5d/wk in office, managers are micromanagers Are you SWE? How is your TC this with 8 yoe?
