Peaceful Protest Hasn’t Worked and Has Been Met With Aggression.
ive been a PM in the US for around 5 years. for the most part, ive been at smaller startups where ive done all the TN paperwork myself. as i look to move to larger companies (FANG et al), they will likely ask me about my visa situation and find out that ive been on a TN that ive written for the last 5 years. also, the TN clasification that i use for PM is not exactly cookie-cutter (economist). will larger companies try to apply for an H1B for me? if so, how does timing work out in that case? when should i be applying / looking to move? TLDR: looking to move to a PM role where im not living the startup life and grinding 24/7. im on a TN as an economist and thats not exactly super clean. what should i do?
I went from TN to h1b. I find companies prefer h1b because the process is well ironed out. Once you have obtained h1b the process is the same for everyone: 3 years validity with two renewal. I find h1b to be more restrictive ( in terms of travel and Visa transfer) compare to TN where all you need is a signed offer and a trip to a port of entry.
Did the company you were already at get you onto an H1B? I’m thinking about moving jobs
Yes
Has anyone else joined on a TN and discussed moving to H1 during the process?
I did basically this, feel free to DM
