When you apply at the airport, you need to have EVERYTHING sorted out (place you'd be staying in US, not having any active job at the time / having given resignation from your current role). Isn't that a risky move? What if you get rejected and you'd be on the streets? (assuming you have no family member in the vicinity). Even though chances are too low, still there's that certainly. How do people do it? #workvisa
It's ok, just bring documentation, company ID.
You should have a start date for your new job and it should be pretty close to the date of your entry. Personally it was super easy, and you can always just try again the next day with whatever they said you were lacking.
Ah so even if you get rejected, you can apply again at the port?
Sure but they’ll give you a reason why you got rejected, so you can just go an get those issues sorted out.
Bruh. TN is like the lowest bar of effort/risk/reward for most serious visa options. If the paperwork for TN is too daunting for you... well good luck.
lol when did I say it's the paperwork?
The reward far outweighs the risk, and after the first time, it's fairly easy to breeze through the TN renewal every 3 years. I actually ended up stranded in Canada, jobless, for 2 months. I got 4 denials becore I finally got my first TN and came to the US. One of the hardest periods of my life. Id do it again though. Since I got it, it's been a lot easier to get new ones. Once you know what you need and know how to answer the officer's questions, it's the easiest thing ever. Now, I can get it in an afternoon I know people who have been in the US on TN for two decades, and every renewal is dead simple. The hardest part is taking a trip to the border. Also, as a tip: apply at land borders if you can, it's a lot easier than at an airport. Speaking from experience.
Which land boarder would you recommend
If you're on the east coast, Rainbow Bridge.
Get pre-approval online before applying at airport
Some companies help you get pre approval
I have always gotten TN at the airport. For every job. 5 now.
And did you resign from your previous roles without giving them any notice each time?
Your chances of dying in a traffic accident in your first year in the US are probably higher. YOLO, there are risks in life. Place you are staying is usually just a hotel
