If you are employed to a company, There is usually a max count that each company tracks or ensures, to get tax benefit at company level... Eg - maximum people traveling from Canada to US on TN Visa for a particular project/ customer location is "xyz" number. You can always have TN Visa, but just that company may ask you to work remote for few days/months.
Can a Canadian pretending working in US while actually working from Canada home? Any illegal thing?
👀
TN is a nonimmigrant visa, does not allow for dual intent if you plan on seeking PR.
Not looking for GC.
You can get a GC on TN.
Canadian citizenship will take a while and may have restrictions. Plus when you renew your TN you’ll need to provide proof of Canadian citizenship again so make sure you keep that in good standing. If you do somehow keep that afloat you might have to file taxes in Canada and the US. Get your Canadian citizenship and consult a lawyer first
The TN visa is only available for certain job descriptions and degrees so I’d speak to an expert to assess your eligibility. It has to be renewed every 3 years but getting it is generally easy at the border ($50 fee). It generally helps to have documentation that is supplied by the company’s lawyers.
Thanks for the info.
If you have previously received an H1B then TN should not be tough.
