TPM Comp Expectations

Google has asked my expectation.. I'm not coming from a FANG so things work very diff. for me currently. What's a good stock expectation with a base around 200? When people list stock in their TC here is that per year or vesting over X years? Thanks!

What level?

Google RockLobsta Oct 23, 2018

This. Without level range is from 100k to 1M.

None yet. They are asking after phone, before onsite, so I imagine it's just ballpark with real negotiation to follow if/when I'm really getting an offer.

I’d go for $1M. #KnowYourWorth

First of all, did you pass the on-site yet? If so, what level? Also yoe?

Chase KGOa50 OP Oct 23, 2018

No, they asked this after passing phone before setting up onsite.. So no idea on level. Lots of overall experience but would be first actual TPM role. Id call about 3 years of my experience relevant to TPM. 10+ as eng.

Thanks. Most likely L4 based on your yoe. If 4, range is large - 200-300.

As others said, it’s level dependent and the level is set at hiring committee. I’d give them a range that you’re comfortable with. Plus add relocation and signing bonus on top of that. As an example for L5, the TC should be 300-350k. TC calculated as base + annualized bonus + annualized signing + RSU/vesting period

You should push back and resolve the level question with them before talking about TC. I recommend saying something along the lines of “My priority is the work and I expect to be contributing at the X level. Does that match your expectations as well?” Then you can be straight up and say “I understand the market range for that level is Y-Z; I’d be comfortable with an offer on the higher end of that”
