Take A Temporary Pay Cut?

I have been interviewing at a range of firms in the UK and although the roles are cool and interesting, almost all of them (including finance) are offering lower comp than what I am currently on (due to salary bands). I think I got lucky with Amazon stock hence my overall comp is ‘high’ for my level but I am struggling to find another role that even matches this. Should I take a temporary pay cut, LeetCode / strengthen my Python skills and then aim for the higher paying jobs (ie swap to SWE)? By then I also have more experience so hopefully I can get into the higher bands. I do need to leave Amazon for my own sanity but am really struggling to find a decent paying job. YOE = 5-6 TC = not great

I mean it just depends on what your budget is. I personally don’t see a problem with that.

It’s not significantly lower - more like 10k ish total lower. I can live with that while I LeetCode anyway.

Just because amazon is overpaying doesn’t mean he’s somehow a higher level.

It is difficult to interview at a higher level because of my years of experience. Unless I go for manager roles but I don’t have the right experience yet.

O you want to switch to management?

I am interviewing for IC more but facing the comp problem as an IC. For the fee management roles the base is much better but bonus/stock not that good so total comp is the same or less.
