I’m interviewing with Addepar for SWE position. I am trying to decide between take home exercise vs technical phone call. Has anyone taken the take home assignment exercise? What was it like? #addepar
Depends on how busy you are. If you aren't too busy then you can sink a lot of time into it. However, in my current interview cycle I did a take home but have been super busy so I really only satisfied the requirements of the assignment without making it look very pretty...i.e. no error catching, etc. ... was rejected without any comments .... really pissed me off ... swore I will never do take home again unless it's for company I really really really want ... phone coding will be done in like one hour ... a lot less investment ... however if you aren't LC prepared then take home might be better

Depends on the person, for me take home tests have always been straight forward. My success rate has always been 100%, but it takes more time than a quick phone screen. Given it’s just addepar, I’d probably just take the phone screen as I don’t lose much, also gives me the opportunity to ask some more questions.
“Just Addepar” lol
