For FAANG and the like, it's pretty obvious they look purely at LC skills. I'm curious to know how this translates to actual work quality, and how many of these developers (percentage wise) are generally bad coders/get put on a PIP. Thoughts?
well in my internship interviews Google asked me LC contest problems so ...
What is a leetcode question? The one from that website or is it a slang?
It's mostly LC type questions at the entry levels roles. Once you get to E5/L5+ it's mostly architecture and technical breadth/depth. The top tech companies are not looking for coders only, but are looking for problem solvers who can code. I'm not sure if there's a more efficient way to mass interview folks without requiring a lot of interviewers time. I've seen a lot of people get put on PIPs. But not all of them are due to incompetence, but to other reasons like the inability to work well with others.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
This isn’t true for all the companies. Google bans leaked questions to avoid hiring leetcode memorizers.
I should have clarified but when I said LC i was referring to general algo/ds questions.
Not really. They just reword or do a slight variation, confirmed that myself and a couple of friends. So maybe not lc memorizers, but definitely algo memorizers.
