Are target bonuses (ie 10%) at the big companies, such as twitter or google, pretty much guaranteed at the end of the year? Or does is it a spectrum of 0 -10% based on your performance?
0 to infinite % at most companies.
Meets expectations = target bonus. Exceed expectations and it goes higher. Don't meet expectations and it goes lower (but you have bigger problems to worry about if you're in this boat).
Depends on individual companies. Facebook and Google are on easy side to hit the target bonus. Very few engineers get less. Uber is harder and more random as they stack rank and force certain percentages even at team level.
