Hey all, I’m a computer science student that has recently accepted an offer for a tech consulting internship with pwc. In the alignment email it said my team would be functional and industry applications. I was just wondering what this will look like and future career prospects if I decide to go down the tech consulting path with pwc rather than the usual swe. If anyone could give some insight into how much travel, hours, starting salary and promotion outlook. I have 8 months experience as a swe co-op for referemce. #consulting #techconsulting #pwc #big4#tech
For internship it's fine. Just keep brushing up on leetcode. I'll advise you to avoid doing this for full-time. Go with swe. Faster rise in TC. I regret staying in big4 for too long
If you’re headed to tech consulting, you’ll hardly do anything related to the usual SWE roles. Interns *MAY* get picked up to work with a client and may get to travel, but sometimes they don’t. If they Travel seems nice - with the points and the flights, but, I’ve seen folks struggle to get out later. Unless and until you really are driven by sales, I would recommend going for SWE roles - better salaries, better growth, better long term prospects. In terms of salary, 🥜 as compared to tech tbh (esp SWE)
