Hey Plaid Folks! Might get an offer from plaid for a software engineer role and had some questions on the tech quality and growth. 1. Do you feel challenged technically? Do you feel you are solving technically complex problems? 2. Is there the right mentorship for career development? 3. Rough ratio of E3:E4:E5:E6 engineers at plaid? 4. What is the tech stack like? 5. Do you have oncall? 6. How many hours do you generally work per week? 7. Is changing teams after a certain time encourages or frowned upon? Edit-1 8. If there is oncall, is there any additional stipend to it? L5, 290 TC, 6 yoe #tech #plaid #Fintech
1. The technical challenge really depends on the team. If you get an offer, the recruiter will set up chats with folks on the team you're joining. I would ask them for the most accurate perspective here. 2. I've never had trouble finding mentors on/off my team. 3. No clue on ratio, but this kinda ties in to Point 2. From my experience, we have a pretty big drop-off from E5 to E6, but a lot of engineers at E5. (This might totally incorrect, and generally the composition of your specific team matters a lot more.) 4. Tech Stack is majority Typescript + Golang 5. Definitely have oncall. 6. Work-Life Balance is pretty great. I work well within 40 hours a week, take PTO when I want, and am generally unstressed at work. 7. It's formally encouraged to switch teams after 18 months, but if there isn't a match with your team I'm sure you can switch earlier. The managers I've talked with really care about making sure you're working on something you enjoy. 8. No additional stipend for on-call.1. The technical challenge really depends on the team. 1. I think so 2. Yes there is, and they’re trying to get better 3. No idea. Levels are not public, and don’t seem to matter too much 4. Varies by team but expect pretty modern stuff 5. There is oncall, but don’t expect anything crazy for any team.
