I want to create a simple website for photo editing. I would need a web UI, backend API for some CRUD operations, database for metadata, file storage for images, and authN/Z. I’m comfortable with AWS products, but it’s overkill and requires too much overhead for a pet project. Any recommendations for tech stack that provides everything I mentioned and allows me to quickly put everything together. I’m okay with paying a couple of dollars / month to use some cloud infrastructure. Project TC: $0 DD tc: 180k

Gcp and firebase are as easy as it gets
Isn’t gcp as complex as AWS
Can't even be compared
You want to create a photo editing web app? Why a photo editor?
Play with opencv, spend time with my kid messing around with images, and learn something new
Hmmm you now you got yourself two pet projects! Developing a webapp and building the core photo editing using opencv. For my project, I did use AWS. Mainly to learn cdk. It was fun. FastApi is an easy to use framework with a lot of bells and whistles To get started fast. If you don’t want to go AWS route I really like heroku.
