Got 220K total compensation offer from Teradata, didn't expect this to be honest. I pretty much have no idea about teradata, and unable to make any decision. Any thoughts or advice? Currently I'm SDE-2 at Amazon with total compensation ~178K, expecting just OKish review this time. And I'm on H1B. Pros: + Small team working on some enterprise cloud service, was told that it's in pretty early stage. + Nice salary bump. Cons: - No idea about Teradata, looks like they aren't doing well in their core business and not sure how this new offering going to go. - Would require commute from Seattle to Bellevue. I would never move to Bellevue. - Would have to leave Blind. PS: Formal offer is yet to come and 220K is just over the phone verbal offer, so there is that.
Little over 4 years at Amazon. 1.5 years as SDE-2. I wasn't actively looking and tried there just because recruiter contacted me (and to test my interviewing skills). Interview was pretty basic with coding questions and more on my previous work and design round.
I would suggest to wait and apply to other companies.. only if you can not make it to others.. join
Teradata usually pays very little. I'm surprised.
I see. At this point, it's just recruiter offering over phone, formal offer yet to be made. Looked like they want to fill this position ASAP and was asking how early I could join. Probably that played a role. I don't know.
Their hr called me as well but I refused based on their stock performance. It we've from$75 in 2013 to $30 now. Amazon will give you stocks with value X but with current trend they value 1.2-1.3x at vesting. so don't look at absolute value. If they're offering part of money on stocks it might be worth less when it vests
You consider leaving blind as a decision factor? You must be a special kind of stupid. Also, you don't have to leave if you just don't uninstall and you can keep trolling with the rest of us.
Minor factor but still is a factor. I love Blind. Staying in with Amazon blind account is like staying in a house without keys, you step out for anything, you are out.
U can keep it. Just don't sign up with a new one. We have tons of former Uber engineers in our room. Who do you think is posting half our self hate posts.
Quickly do interviews at some other places and use this offer to negotiate. Choose the best at the end.
take it
Op, can you please share your offer in terms of base, bonus, sign on bonus and stocks
Teradata is a high risk job. If you have visa issue, I would highly suggest against it.
