@citibank read the room! What is wrong with you?
That’s pretty young. Did you have a family history of cancer? Did you eat out a lot?
I’m sure a guy who just found out he’s on the brink of death wants to answer your questions … fucking idiot
That’s “pretty young”?? And you think it’s his fault if he “ate out a lot”? You are freaking psycho bro
Write a will. Pay all your dues and bills. Make sure to hand her all the important money related stuff and passwords. Keep everything organised and easy to access. This all is to make sure nobody takes financial advantage out of her after you're gone. Also, create a TOD (Transfer on death) of all your assets to your wife. Lastly, Spend your time with her and other loved ones because they are the successors of your memories on this planet.
All of that, and let me suggest one more: sign up with a service like Personal Capital and register all your accounts. There’s the acute problem to solve, of course, but a comprehensive view of your finances will help her considerably in the long run. Having all this information available without needing manual labor is a significant marker of financial success. And it will help relatives and advisors help her if the need arises.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into TOD
Bro....
Some people have no social sense.
One thing I learned from my friend is let your wife know the passcode to your phone and have a password manager set up so she can have all your password. It’s easier for her to manual transfer the money than to go through the lawyers. The phone is for 2FA since banks mostly use text for 2FA.
Oh this is good advice!
Yes! I have a password manager . I will do that. Thank you!
I’m so sorry to hear this. This blog should provide some tips: https://getyourshittogether.org. It’s from a woman who suddenly lost her husband. At a minimum, you should probably get a list of accounts consolidated and ensure your wife has access.
^This. It is something everyone should do, no matter your condition. You are having the privilege (and pain) of knowing in advance. My best wishes for you and family.
See an estate planning attorney to ensure you have all documents in place to ensure an easy transition for your wife including that accounts are held as JTWROS and she knows how to access them. An attorney or banker can administer your wife's assets permanently, or for a short amount of time, if you are worried about her managing the money. I am so sorry, OP. You are far too young to have to deal with this.
This ^ ! See an estate attorney right away
Thanks you! I will look into estate planning attorney.
Email to everyone in ur company upto the CEO that Amazon sucks
What a motherfucker
Sorry man. This blows chunks. Find an attorney and get the estate/will asap. Any decent lawyer will do. You are not trying to win a case here. Just doing due diligence.
I don't think this is a good advice. Aside from getting into legal troubles, Insurance companies can always get all of your records from the past and deny the claims. Very risky and potentially illegal I think.
Very Bad Advice. If you TERM LIFE INSURANCE POLICY, you can cash it out. But, they needs records of terminal condition.
