I'm starting a non technical role at Tesla soon and I was wondering what is the etiquette for applying for different roles within the company? Either to a semi-technical role or a technical role. I don't have a specific role in mind that I'm dead set on for now because the roles may not exist later, but I know for sure the role I'm in is not something I want to do for a long term. I hope less than a year for sure, 6 months preferably. What is the best way to go about this? Should I hit up in house Tesla recruiters to express my career development/change or just send messages to the respective hiring manager or employees within that department on LinkedIn. I definitely don't want to burn bridges with my boss but I would like to plan a bit ahead and see if I can put my name out there so they know I exist and I'm interested. Learning their tech stack by doing projects that's relevant to the roles. Thank you all :)
Your priority should be getting your ground running with your team instead of looking for a new position before you even start. If you do not perform, you will be let go quickly. My advise, focus on your current role. During this time, build relationships with others and you can look to move after a year. Could be sooner if you do very well in your current role
