Google junjinjan Jun 1, 2023

What's ppt round?

Mercari KUOd02 Jun 1, 2023

Looks good

Meta XNPT24 Jun 1, 2023

Horrible but better than your current

LinkedIn code_smith OP Jun 2, 2023

Really? I could have negotiated better? How much do you think they pay for manufacturing quality staff level?

ViaSat Maoy Jun 2, 2023

Horrible relative to what? Tesla, by my understanding, doesn't pay anything like the other large FAANG companies. Somewhat like spacex people give up some pay to be part of the buzz working with Elon.

How did you negotiate staff from senior

LinkedIn code_smith OP Jun 2, 2023

I had competing offers and I’m currently a staff

Decent for a factory role. Staff eng offer would have been 130 a few years ago but heavy on stock, looks like they've rebalance. But also depends on the factory, 180 would have to be Fremont.

Bloom Energy rook777 Jun 2, 2023

What is a normal staff offer in your mind? When you say heavy on stocks how much would it be? Op here is quoting roughly $430k over 4 years, isn’t that good?

General Motors hydro6x Jun 2, 2023

I read the 106 equity as the standard 4 year vest. If he's saying 400+ equity then that's an excellent offer. I think this is a decent offer for a staff, I'm just giving him the context that it's much better then he would have gotten a few years ago. And totally depends on the industry, auto is in general 30% less than tech for hardware roles in my experience.

Mind blowing for a traditional engineering role congrats.

How did you manage to neg from Sr to Staff but still ended up with a sub 200k base?

LinkedIn code_smith OP Jun 2, 2023

Senior was 130-160 Staff was 160-185 What do you think the base should be, just curious

Dude congrats that's a very good offer for MQE! Can you share how was the interview process for the QE position? Thanks

LinkedIn code_smith OP Jun 2, 2023

1. Hiring manager round 2. 3 hour written test related to the role - this took me by surprise and it was pretty difficult 3. Interview with director 4. Present a problem I solved to the interview panel 5. Followed by panel interview Then offer It was very good interview process. All question related to how I would deal with a problem.

Do you mind talking about the written test? Was it multiple choice or free response? Assuming it was free response, was it similar to the ones you write in uni ?

Your post is a little confusing. You applied for quality engg role and why would you bring software into the mix for comparison? And your account is from LinkedIn. So you were a MQE there? If this is for a staff MQE role, that salary is fantastic. Base could have been better. But I personally prefer the stock heavy. When Tesla doubles, your equity will be worth much more.

LinkedIn code_smith OP Jun 2, 2023

Positing from wife’s account buddy. I don’t work for LinkedIn. How much do you think the base should have been
