I often wondered how a bookmark app like Pinterest could survive for so long. I know it's mostly used by women, but still, Pinterest's resilient revenue and user growth were a mystery to me. A similar question could be raised about Facebook, which is one of the longest-surviving social media apps. I've never used Expedia or Agoda before, and maybe that will surprise some of you who use them for vacation booking. Additionally, YouTube users tend to get pigeonholed into specific niches, resulting in them not subscribing to the same channels as others, mostly! (based on their own analysis report). Personalization of service has indeed changed the world. The internet, and by extension the world, is filled with peculiarities that demonstrate both are much weirder than we initially thought.
Ok
If you create something useful for folks they will continue to use it. Not everything has to be a rocket science. As simple as it maybe, a well managed collection of images pinned from the web is actually useful for lot of folks from designers to hobbyists etc. and hence Pinterest thrives. Its affiliate links and ads are a good source for revenue. So it ticks two fundamental things needed for a sustainable business: customer usage and way to make money. Nothing weird there.
The ideas that are accepted by the majority of people succeed. The majority of people are shallow and don't crave intellectual products. That's why stupid social media apps with twerking videos make billions of dollars. We're wasting so much compute resources on useless stupid stuff that can be used to solve critical problems but whatever makes money is what's going to be prioritized.
Youâre right. There are those, for example, who donât post their TC.
that is weird!
