The problem’s still bigger than Trump

The global recession cracked the neoliberal order. While the center has tried to hold all the pieces together they have no satisfactory long-term plan: they bailed-out finance in the US and cut services bare in parts of Europe but they won’t be able to do that again if another recession hits soon. In that political vacuum quasi or full fascist groups have developed to provide scapegoats - it’s not government austerity that’s making your life harder, it’s not a volatile economy that is making society less stable... it’s migrants, Roma, homosexuals. Defeating new fascist tendencies can’t come from simply supporting the same centrists with no answers (that led to new fascists gaining ground in the first place!) There needs to be a populist left political agenda and movements that can push for an alternative both to the neoliberal status quo that has failed and to the absurd monstrosities of xenophobic nationalism, political gangs killing migrants in Greece or Italy, bans on religious services, tallying of Roma, laws against “ethnic” shops. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/italy-ethnic-shop-opening-hours-immigrants-matteo-salvini-racism-open-a8584846.html

An extremely correct post. Still the dems are gonna run another establishment "moderate" in 2020 and kneecap themselves again

I don’t know about you man but I can’t take anymore populism. It’s exhausting. So any centrist with boring moderate tendencies gets my vote in either party.

A normal, boring centrist candidate for me too. I’m sick and frankly tired of the demagoguery in politics.

Have you been to Italy recently?

This is getting more common, regardless if you’re on the far left or the far right. It’s driven by mob mentality. Example: in some cities in Indonesia, during the Ramadan (fasting) period, a number of Muslim extremist will go around and force non-Muslim / Chinese restaurant to close down to respect Ramadan. Their reasoning is because having a restaurant open during Ramadan will “tempt” Muslim to break their fasting rule.

I’m sure climate change is going to make everything worse. Countries that get impacted sees reduced resources: food, clean water, land. More reasons to invade neighboring countries. War erupts and drains resources on all sides, accelerates climate change. You think the Mexicans are bad, just wait until you see the refugees flooding your homes. Drug cartels are criminals, but they’re not desperate for survival. They still have boundaries. Refugees have nothing else to lose.

Yeah, a plot from The Walking Dead. You bing watching it on Wednesday.

What’s the Walking Dead? Doesn’t make the scenario any less valid.

The whole "progressive" agenda has been based on populism, totalitarianism and now even fascism. Trump is just an equally bad counterbalance. P.S. If you do not believe that the "progressives" love fascism, just remember this: in dozens of feminist magazines have published Hitler's Mein Kampf and gave it very positive reviews with some giving it an "article of the year" award. When feminists publicly give Hitler's Mein Kampf the "Article of the year" awards you can no longer deny their love of fascism.
