Interesting reading I found in regards to Zoom and Amazon. Personally I rather work remote or hybrid. This notion that we work “better when together” is full of 💩 What’s your thoughts? #hybridwork #hybrid #remotework Zoom just told employees to return to the office: https://www.businessinsider.com/zoom-tells-employees-return-to-office-remote-work-video-conferencing-2023-8 An Amazon exec says it’s time for workers to ‘disagree and commit’ to an office return: ‘I don’t have data to back it up, but I know it’s better’: https://fortune.com/2023/08/03/amazon-svp-mike-hopkins-office-return/amp/
It's better for literally nobody but these 🤡
How is it better for Zoom? Prove that remote working is works, and more companies will use Zoom… right?
‘I don’t have the data to back it up but I know it’s better’ 🤡🤡
If engineers tried using that in their own designs 🙄
If you succeed- its "are right a lot"
Am I the only one who wants companies to go back to the way things were? WFH sucks you barely know the people you are working with.
That’s your own fault
How exactly is it my fault? What do you do sitting around in ur room all day long. The things we see in science fiction movies have become reality.
Time to short zoom.
Let's hit reddit for this. I am in.
A soldier’s opinion isn’t relevant when deciding who to go to war with. A soldier gets their orders and executes it.
Must be hurting and need to get rid of staff, but don’t want to pay severance.
Hard to compete against free MS Teams
Don't get me wrong, I love WFH and I am not looking to give it up. BUT, I also agree that we do work better together. WFH us better for me but not for my work. But that is my role and your experience may vary.
Hybrid is a good approach but like work together for a week every month or few days per week. No need to commute and be in person every day. Right now remote people can only see others like quarterly and that sucks
🤷♂️ workers don’t necessarily benefit from the increased productivity even if there was some so might as well be remote from a worker perspective. On site workers should be getting paid more of their productivity does increase as these companies claim.
One of the guiding principles at Amazon is that they are data driven, this exec is shameless!
He thinks he's right a lot so doesn't need data
Disagree and commit
I distract my coworkers so much they get remote work expections
The ultimate irony is to hear this from Zoom
Zoom doesn’t trust their product! There is a huge flaw in it somewhere
Yeah it looks like quite the joke. Eric's justifications for it were really off-putting as well.
