Guys/Gals, I started interviewing for FB E5 among others. FB was one of the first companies I've started with. However as I contacted other companies, more and more compsnies considering me for higher levels. For example: Twitter Staff VWware staff 1 or 2 Cruise staff And some more. So, I am thinking if I should push for E6 onsite. What will be required to be succesful as E6? Strong cross-team impact? Is it possible to have reasonsble WLB as E6? I would appreciate all comments. Especially if you joined FB as E6. YOE:15 TC:0
All the E6s are in bed now lol
Makes sense :)
Seriously. Sleep is important
OP read this https://us.teamblind.com/s/jcuAXtpg Also search for Facebook E6. Some good threads with more insights are available.
E6 is about driving your team’s roadmap, delivering strong cross team impact by coördinating with stakeholders to align teams, and making sure you and your team are focused on what’s going to deliver the highest impact. It’s the first level where nothing is ever “done”. E5 can ship a project and follow it up, but E6 stays out in front of the team prototyping the next initiative. Lots of Xfn. Lots of defining projects that others do. In other words, it’s way more fun than E5, if that’s the kind of thing you’re looking for. It’s a completely different job. :-D
How is the work life balance for E6 when compared with E5 ?
It’s a question of your skills relative to your level. I’ve seen E5s struggling and working extra hours to compensate, and E6s who are done at 5pm. But yeah as a rule of thumb, E6s work longer hours. I think it has a lot to do with motivation. Nobody makes 6 without having some drive in them, and it’s pretty easy to find them pushing hard, because they have a broad scope and a lot that they could accomplish in it.
Current YOE?
That isn't important for FB
