Thoughts on Google Professional Certifications

I took a 1.5 year break. Looking to get back into the industry and ramp up. Are google professional certifications worth it? Do they help in getting a job? I am looking to go for Data Analytics or the Project Management in specific, and I have no experience with them both before. Assuming someone from no background and doing this certification and looking for job in that field, will I be able to make it? Let me know your thoughts on this and which certificate is better to land a job. If there are any other suggestions, drop it in the comments. Much appreciated! 😊🙏 Intro: Bachelor's in Comp Sci (Univ of South Florida) 2020 Grad Software Engineer Intern @AmEx SDE (L4) at Amazon (1.5yrs exp, quit dec 2021 due to family reasons) Gap year till now, was just doing part time mentoring and AI data trainer jobs, so I didn't code

At Uber, our general thoughts on a Project Management certificate is that it’s nice that you have it and it shows you took steps to understand the foundations of PM, but try to also find ways to show you also had project management in your previous roles. I think most people have had experience whether they realize it or not.

In reality It doesn’t mean much When it comes down to it, if a recruiter looked at 60 applications and only 2 had the certificate, they might go with those ones, it could be worth the money or it could be a waste. I see the linkedin certificates people are posting and have like 30 of and think those are hot dog water

My two cents (for what it’s worth) I’m retiring from the military (non IT) and I’m taking as many certifications I can before I get out. I’ve done CSM and PMP, looking to do Net+ and Sec+. Outside of those well known ‘industry’ certifications, I got the Google cert for IT Fundamentals and scheduled Google PM and ISC2 SSCP. I say all of that to say this - more never hurts and with an industry leader like Google or ISC2, it’s a good compliment to your resume; but I wouldn’t hang my hope on those certifications alone. Use industry ‘gold’ standard certification to get your foot in the door and the Google certifications to show you’re well rounded. I could be completely wrong because I’ve been in the military for 20 yrs but with ageism in tech and evolving technologies, I’m at least walking in showing initiative in my personal/professional development.
