Got an offer from TikTok for a Product Manager role 180k Base 25% target bonus 132k RSU (worthless since pre-ipo) Anyone have experience with their culture in Mountain View and thoughts on whether this is a good career move? I'm struggling with the decision considering we may be looking at a recession and Google appears to offer better stability. Current post-crash TC 195k (non-tech program manager) #Bytedance #tiktok
You’d leave Google to go to either of those? 😂
IMO bytedance is a decent company. Make a poll please. Btw what’s your yoe?
5.5 YOE and good idea.
132k rsu per year? Seems like a no brainer based on ur current tc
Over 4 years, seems like they go cash-heavy.
Bonus you won’t get based on current situation
Bonus is based on performance of the individual, not of the company so if the person succeeds in their role they will get the bonus.
Stay at Google. It’s only 30 k more per year and highly unstable in this environment. You can always looks for higher paying offers once the economy rebounds
Depends on your goal. If your long-term goal is product management, this seems like a good stepping stone. I heard it's tough to even transition internally at Google. Also depends on if you value the learning experience in an ambiguous (and tough) environment like TikTok.
Yeah tough to transfer to pm but not impossible. Probably easier to get job elsewhere given high bar for pm at google. So ya if your goal is pm might be worth it.
Imo it depends - What’s the role? Is it engaging compared to ur current gig?
I got an offer but it's more equity heavy and a bit less cash. I got 170 base, 200 rsu / 4 with that nonlinear vest.
Hi may I ask what level is this offer? And did you mean 2000 rsu?
Good if u want a short term gig. Folks have already started leaving that place. Mostly sticking around due to $. Otherwise the uncertain US-China tension trickles down in ur daily work
