are all just auto-converted Instagram users when they login? So in that case, 25 million sign-ups in a few hours isn't that impressive - eventually all Instagram users are going to login and automatically become Threads users? What am I missing? Isn't actual app usage (DAU / MAU) more important?
Instagram has >2B users. And it is supposed to be an Instagram app, says right there in the title. A lot of websites provide single click signups (for example, using your Google account). It's not auto-rolling people to Threads. People have to go to app stores, download an app and then login. Apps been out for barely 24 hours and isn't even available worldwide. Dau/Mau stabilizing will take some time.
Yeah.. there doesn't seem to even be a 'sign up' just yet, just 30m ig users that downloaded it and checked it out
How is that not impressive. You think 1B people are gonna sign up first day?
That says more about curiosity and dissatisfaction with Twitter .. its not hard to get an IG user to download an app and click 'ok' .. most people I know looked at it for 2 minutes and probaly will never use it again because all you get is a flood of garbage posts DAU a month from now will be interesting and it *could* be impressive but I doubt it
