Other companies scramble to layoff employees, despite record profits (aka Google) Apple is the one company that has carried its employees through these tough times. And they’ve also carried the market/investors— stock is doing great. Yes, I’ll complain that the iPhone launches are incremental. But massive respect for Tim Cook 🫡 Edit: people say they run “lean” hence why no layoffs. This argument doesn’t add up. Apples financials are no better than Google/other big tech. Revenue has shrunk 5 consecutive quarters. Profits have also been shrinking— last quarter was -13% y.y. Net net, their cost growth overran their revenue growth. They’re in the exact same financial position as other big tech. Yet they’re holding onto their employees and managing the market (stock is stable). That’s the commendable part
Apple’s internal politics are lame, but god damn do they ever run a product-focused business well nonetheless.
While caring for their employees through this downturn
Apple doesn’t do layoffs because they are always understaffed. This has nothing to do with caring for employees 😂
The reason they don’t do layoffs is because there is a lot of secrecy between teams so they don’t even know what team is safe to layoff
Underrated 🤣
Apple did layoffs. Although they were silent.
All my internal sources tell me they’ve done no scaled layoffs (not even hundreds). Even their PIP numbers haven’t increased.
Your internal sources are wrong. I have been told that some businesses were cut. Core businesses weren’t touched.
You just wait till end of 2024. Apple has grown hc way too much in the last 5 years. With Huawei back in the game, intensifying competition and regulation, bad times are coming to the cult of 🍎
Sure whatever. They’ve held out this far. That’s what my praise is based on.
Someone said that in 2022 and again in 2023. I guess if you keep saying the same, one year you’ll be right, man oh boy how many time this was wrong is baffling by
Contractors were let go last year
That’s not “firing” that’s just contracts not renewed. If you want your contract auto renewed, work as an FTE SMH
Bro is meatriding a corporation 💀 thank you master Cook for not firing us lowly peasants 🙇♂️
At least in Apple, you do not see so many bullshit projects. They are so focused on products and customers. They are also cautious in investment, hiring, promotion. They are behaving so professional. This is what other companies should learn.
They still can’t get auto correct to work though so still suck imo
And no empire building by corrupt nepotistic CEOs like Google
There is definitely a “PIP” process to get rid of people if needed. But it’s rarely used and there is no PIP mandate like at lots of companies
I have massive respect for Apple. Tbh, I think apple products are so cheap considering their extreme performance and quality. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/01/09/iphone-boeing-737-max-9-jet-fall-physics-science/72156904007/
willing to bet you won’t stand by that statement and pay a “fair” price for it if they charge 10k for an iphone
im glad you think your statement is retarded. whats why i posted
Perpetually understaffed. That’s how. Many want to work here though. Good place overall.
Why are we celebrating leaders like satya, who’ve burned thousands of people to achieve the same results as Apple.
That’s not it. America loves leaders who try to be larger than life & promote themselves as geniuses (satya, Elon etc). capitalist glorification. Somebody like Tim Cook who quietly delivers results over a decade doesn’t fit that persona
BS. We love both type as long as they are successful and deliver value. Ur DEI humble sundar is not one of them. He can memorize phone numbers tho., that is what I heard.
