Folks, here is what Tim Draper said about California on LinkedIn today: “Life in California To be clear, I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I am for freedom and trust, where government gives people the benefit of the doubt and allows them to run their lives. Neither major party seems to represent these values. That said, we in California are a one party state, where 100% of the state is controlled by the Democrats, and that monopoly party has failed us. Our tax rates, both income and sales, are the highest in the nation (and potentially going higher), but that money has not provided us the services we would ordinarily deserve. We have poor schools, poor highways, high rents, expensive electricity and gas, the worst poverty in the nation, and unlike almost every other state in the union, the California bureaucrats and unions won’t open their books to the public who paid for them. California's Democrats decriminalized shoplifting, traffic is congested and miserable, free-speech is discouraged, about 23% of nation's homeless live in California, while the great industrialists are moving out (like Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, Toyota, Disney, Occidental, etc.) the state is going dry and almost out of water, unemployment is high, while shops everywhere are looking for help. So this time, let’s try something new and vote something other than Democrat in California.” Let us know if you agree or disagree with his thoughts and feel free to share more insights in comments. PS. Tim Draper is a prominent investor, VC, founder and a key who’s who of Silicon Valley. Blind Tax: Tim probably earns in 8 or 9 figures :p @mentioning some Bay Area tech firms for visibility
25 Fortune 500 companies moved from California to Texas in last 2 to 3 years. Now Texas has more Fortune 500 companies than California. The balance of innovation and business is shifting decisively in favor of Texas (i.e Republicans). Personally, I think more than Republicans, it was Trump who single handedly made all the difference when it came to making pro-business policies. He showed how businesses can thrive when right policies are made.
ROFL
Are you forgetting the fact that under complete democrat control from the last few decades, California boomed with all the companies popping up throughout? It was all under dem control when its economy grew. California is the epitome of late stage capitalism and everyone is feeling the effects of such. More companies + continued desirability to move here + increased demand + wealthier people move in + prioritizing profits + a population boom from the last decade = housing cost goes up, people get displaced, people become homeless, middle class shrinks, wealth inequality, poverty, mental illness arises, etc etc etc. It’s comical that right wingers call CA this commie hellhole, when its literally the beacon of capitalism in the US. I’m not defending the problems at all, but California’s problems are more than just because “democrats”. Its a mix of everything. The problems are a result from its own success. Isn’t Austins homeless problem growing because of the increased COL? Take that and multiply that across CA. This was decades in the making. CA politicians absolutely got complacent and now they are realizing it because the pandemic accelerated all the built up issues. But all you’re highlighting is giving a fuckin tax break to the elites. If CA did this more often, our problems would be 10x worse. That is exactly what the problem is. Again, the problems are a result from our own success. Like please stfu with your oligarch bootlicking, you’re just another peasant to them. Try actually looking at the problem holistically
The dude just likes to say outlandish things. Wasn’t he also behind the Russian troll attempt to get California to split up into 8 different states?
California did try republican, Arnold was the Republican and look what happened lol
He was independent, he was married to a Kennedy and he was actually pretty good governor. Labor unions and ultra left sabotaged him every step of the way.
What solutions is he proposing? Or is he just complaining and expecting others to solve the problem?
He is proposing that people vote for the party he supports. 🙄
As soon as I heard California decriminalized KNOWINGLY giving someone HIV, they've been a shit-hole state in my eyes. What kind of dickhead thought that was a good idea? It's like Tim said, they pander to the extreme left.
Both parties suck ass, I would rather take the left than the neo-nazi right
I always feel Republicans conveniently forget that they rule Mississippi, Louisiana which are the poorest states in the world. People in Mississippi don't have access to clean water
Yes they are the poorest states like you said. The parts of California that are the biggest mess are some of the richest areas on the planet. They have turned into such garbage through political corruption and incompetence. There's a difference between a trust fund kid turning into a drug addict with rich parents that say its good and someone born into poverty turning into a drug addict. And honestly don't start with this Mississippi garbage. Democrats have Ferguson, Flint, Memphis, Baltimore, Detroit, chicago and just about every crime filled urban area in the USA. Even the ones in red states.
Tl;dr: I’m not Republican or Democrat, but please vote Republican so they can cut my billionaire taxes
This is accurate
“I’m not a Republican or a Democrat “ Yup spoken like a true Republican
Spoken like a true Democrat.
cool story bro
Ironically I got paid better when Trump was in charge. I do like Newsom even though he just woke up from slumber and finally signing pro-housing policies.
Some of the criticisms are fair. Lately, the democrats have started pandering to the extreme woke left instead of focusing on the real issues. By the extreme right is just as looney. Which Republican state is doing better?
Texas?
Like all of them lol? Texas, Tennessee, florida, etc why do you think so many ppl are moving out of cali and nyc into Texas, Nashville, and florida?
