Tips on renting apartments

Hey Blind! I need some help with my apartment search. I am looking for a studio/1 bed apartment in the Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland area. (Seattle has decent apartments but I have a car so, just too expensive to stay there) I need to move out of my current apartment around the last week of Feb’23. Requirements: 1. Studio/1 bed/urban 1 bed 2. Preferable in unit laundry but not hard set on this 3. Preferably in a multi-story apartment building 4. Rent: idek (new to west coast) 5. Reasonable parking price Here are some of the questions I have: 1. What’s the best time to start searching? 2. Any idea if the rents are going to go down given the layoffs in the area and real estate pricing decline? 3. Is there any way I can negotiate? 4. How do I ask for offers if they aren’t shown on their website? Thanks in advance!

Start searching now. Given your preferences, you are likely looking at "luxury" buildings. Downtown Redmond ($$) and Downtown Bellevue ($$$) have them. I'm not familiar with Kirkland, so I cannot help you there.

Oof, never knew my preferences would ever touch luxury 😅 Thanks! :D

Check to see if your current place of residence requires a 30 day notice

Already told them we’re not extending the lease. :)

Depending where you're located, they can require 60 days or they'll hit you with early termination + 1 extra month of rent

Can’t you go on Zillow and filter for 1bd/studio?

Thanks didn’t think of that!
