When somebody posts about conditions in the US, somebody is rather quick to comment about the living conditions of a developing or 3rd world country. OP: “something about power” Commenter: “people in India don’t have power” OP: “something about market rate for tech skills” Commenter: “but McDonalds workers don’t make that kind of money” It’s getting old. Your 1st world guilt is understandable, but you need to work through it. I traveled in the USMC all across the Middle East, where I saw poverty at a level I’ll never forget. It gives me great pride that here in the United States of America we have houses, vehicles, roads, heat, food, toys, safe drinking water, 30 min showers, Birkin handbags, fancy restaurants, world-class wineries, luxury spas, sport events, private schools, top rated universities, Bill of rights and freedom. If you’re here in the United States, know that these things came at a great price. It was built on hard work, struggle, conflict and perseverance. 🇺🇸 Welcome, for whatever length of time life takes you, enjoy these luxuries and thank God you get to be in the greatest country on the planet. “Liberty has never come from the government. Liberty has always come from the subjects of it. The history of liberty is a history of resistance.” Woodrow Wilson. #1stworldguilt #rant TC: $275 YOE: 8
Identity politics from the left. It’s the new norm these days.
The ultimate first world problem
You're proud of Birkin bags? Don't Ask/Don't Tell, right? 👜
I never said if I’m a male or female. And yes, I’m proud that we live in a country of luxury. People fought and died to give us a better life.
At Hermes? I agree with the spirit of your post, but some of your examples...
Fallacy of relative privation. Just cuz there are worse problems out there doesn’t mean yours isn’t a problem
I'm from a poor country and I appreciate everything I have here everyday. I don't thank the US enough for everything it has given me.
Why does it make you proud? It is not your work that got the US to what it is today. And are you sure it is the greatest country in the planet?
Only an American hating socialist brought up in American liberal schools would question whether the US is the greatest country in the world.
As a permanent member of the uniformed US armed forces. Yes. Yes I did contribute to where the US is today, and so are lots of other people.
I agree. Stop letting people guilt trip you into being ashamed of your position.
TC or .... Thats my first world problem.
