If it wasn't obvious to you.... YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT LOGIN AND PASSWORD TO PLAID, OR ANY OTHER COMPANY OR PERSON OR THING Cancelling Coinbase account. Also a good reminder to take your crypto off of exchanges if you haven't already. Not your keys, not your coin.
Lol you were going off in a thread about Plaid too. Are you ok? Did someone take all your money via Plaid?
Yep. The email I posted was the trigger to take out my plaid rage here 😁
"not your keys, not your coin" damn if only you could use a self-custody wallet like Coinbase Wallet that allows you to transfer crypto from you Coinbase account for no fees 🤔
This.
Since I have you guys here. Can you give us some info on how close CB is to bankruptcy. Really need to make sure to secure the coins asap via ledger
I don’t think plaid stores your username and password. They use oauth and you input the details on your banks website.
They do. And they bypass 2fa from that point forward. And they have perpetual access to your balance, transaction history, etc.
They _did _
I agree with coinbase, wtf is wrong with plaid?
I didn’t do this as well. Plaid basically can scan through all the purchases on your accounts and sell more shit to you. Never signing up for those crooks
Exactly. Let's talk about this. Why would you allow an untrusted 3rd party with seriously questionable ethics to have access to your sensitive banking information? What business should Plaid have with your data? Wake up people.
They dont do that.
Fwiw Plaid has been pushing for oauth for a while now and a majority of bank connections are now via api
Yea, your other option is to have your app handle it, which would be crazy, or have the banks do it and then you would not have any app option because they want to control it.
The only thing crazy here is trusting Plaid with direct unfettered access to your bank account and money.
Guessing you work for a competitor since you are just saying untrue things about how it works.
The opinion that Plaid stores credentials or doesn't do MFA is misplaced. Plaid mimics whatever the bank tells it to do - if the bank doesn't have OAuth or APIs, Plaid gets the data using your credentials based on your consent. If the bank doesn't do MFA, Plaid provides added security via its own MFA. The statement that Plaid scans your transactions and sells you other stuff is ludicrous. Instead of shit posting here, if only you would have spent 5 minutes reading our terms and conditions.
Your terms and conditions are corporate horseshit. You rely on herd mentality to get unthinking people to sign up. You store access to people's bank accounts promising convenience. No one should ever give you that level of access. You collect bank account data. You have programs to monetize that data.
Did they do something to your money?
