Trying to learn coding but some of my colleagues think otherwise. My colleagues graduating with CS degrees are saying by the time I learn how to code, there will be AI taking over swe jobs. So is data scientist, ML better field as in longevity? If so should I goto grad school since both these positions require higher education. Lmk TC 140 Yoe 3
how the fuck can ai take over swe jobs
Newest ML tools are going to take vague business requirements and turn it into impeccably architected software with no bugs
HAHAHAHHAHA
Where did I hear this before? Ah! It was eighties! Google “fourth generation programming languages “. Or was it fifth? There was also CASE languages. Thirty years passed we’re still waiting
Learning how to code isn't going to take you 50 years. AI learning to code might, however.
Truth
nonsense, you can pick this up rather quickly
I’m assuming you’re young because of 3 YoE. There are many threads on Blind by people switching to SWE from other related or non related fields in their 40s, 50s and if I remember correctly someone in their 60s.
Just BS. Ignore them and resume your learning.
Hurry up though. Job market is saturated with bootcamp grads
Wouldn’t call that saturation. Saturation is when the market is flooded with computer science degree holders.
If AI is taking over the world, what is your colleague doing to prepare for that. He just doesn’t want everyone to flood in to learn coding.
