I'm curious about Toronto salaries, GTA vs non-GTA, and any general comments about working here. Post yours! TC: 80K (CAD) YOE: <1 non-GTA Edit: nmsJ77 posted the site below with more Toronto-specific data meterwork.com/salaries
175k YoE: 4 (SDE2) Downtown Toronto Definitely an exciting time to be in this growing city. My salary was <60k when I was interning back in 2014. I think tech is one of the few domains where income is outpacing the real estate market.
Are you in Toronto?
I think he made that pretty obvious
TC: 65K :(( YOE: <1 GTA Most of my new grad friends are in same boat as me, 60-65k
Hmm, it seems like that's not uncommon. My higher TC might be because I did freelance for a few months and generally have gained experience from independent projects. Or I just got lucky. Unfortunately I have no idea how much my colleagues make so I can't know
Check meterwork.com/salaries for salaries at non-fang companies in Toronto
Wait, how do you know about this? This is amazing, I mean who owns this site
It's my site
TC: 124k Yoe: 15 years Downtown Toronto.
Iβd say offers for senior engs at decent tech companies in Toronto are min $200k TC while a staff eng should do over $300k. Salaries have definitely been going up.
What do you mean by "decent"? Is it the company size or amount of time it's been around?
Big companies in GTA (and some in KW) can pay new grad 140k - 200k

I've been working in the industry in the GTA for a long time (15+yr) and I think the salary distribution you see on levels.fyi is pretty accurate - most software eng jobs pay 85-150k TC in the GTA but there are some places where you can double or triple that. TC has been moving upwards quickly over the last 2-3 years thanks to increased competition for engineers and I'd expect that to continue for another 1-2 years (e.g. Meta's announcement abt a new engineering hub in Toronto)
