It seems like every post that includes tc are a higher pay than I could have imagined. Is it all bs? Also what jobs do you have that are giving you 200k+ tc Tc 120
It's funny how the granularity stops where the majority will supply their survey response. TC: 800
Where do you work sir
Quant
Keep in mind TC is inclusive of all things, not just salary. I.e RSUs, on-target bonuses, health spending accounts, etc.
Remember blind is a heavily biased dataset with extreme high-end TCs
Not really. Look at the salaries quoted on job postings. Then factor in equity and bonus. It’s not biased at all.
Speaking as a statistician, after seeing posts on r/cscareers, r/datascience, and blind, Yes, the TCs are biased on Blind.
Leetcode and get a new job. Never tell the recruiter what you currently make. Simple.
We don’t even pay a lot and 200k is like less than mid level dev pay lol
It’s mostly real but the vast majority of blind users give their TC in current stock value instead of offer package which is far less valuable and obscures the original purpose of providing the numbers.
If someone joins as an E4 and gets promoted to E5, they can't say for sure what they would hypothetically be offered today if they were to get a new offer right then, and reporting their TC including refreshers and growth is more indicative of what people who work there actually make. In my case, my initial (E5) offer was 428k (209k base/750k RSUs/15% target bonus/55k signing) but I'm on course to break 850k this next year if I get Meets All rating and our stock stays totally flat for the next 12 months. I think both numbers are very useful to know for people looking to join a company, and people can get plenty of "new hire" datapoints from Levels.fyi and the offer evaluation threads on Blind.
OP, are u a SWE working in Bay Area. 200K TC is what new grads make. Staff engineers make over 500K easily. Looking at u your 120K TC, it seems that you are not a SWE.
That seems to be the common denominator. I’m an ME in AZ and clearly went into the wrong profession.
$120k in Arizona especially if you’re young and single is a better life than what you’d get in the Bay with higher TC
Curious as well. 55k gang here. I got $20 to my name.
200k is like a starting TC for new grad SWEs lol
It’s not bs. It’s real. However, keep in mind: 1. Most of them are located in places very expensive housing like Bay Area or NYC 2. Not everyone in the company gets those high compensations 3. People often include even a sign-on bonus, which they will not have next year. 4. Some of them are hired in periods of hot market, and then they cry being laid off when the marked is cooled down. Look at the moans around Google layoffs. Not so long ago Google won all the polls as the best company to work for. Now everyone hates them.
TC is generally quoted on a 4 year basis based on current stock price. It shouldn’t be quoted for 1 year only, though some people might do that.
