Lol 200$ won’t be real for too long. But I am for trade war. Time everyone plays a game rather than just shake hands and sign $10B contract. I am not some right hardline hawk - but economically makes sense. I need this market shaken up. I don’t mind a small recession and I will invest.

Does it though? There have already been a few cases of companies just passing on the increased costs to their customers, or re-locating their factories to maintain their margins. It seems the American consumer is the one losing here. Are we prepared to pay higher prices?

Cramer, the host of “Mad Money,” contended the time is right for the president to engage China on trade because the U.S. economy is so strong. "There are a lot of companies that are doing quite well in the country. And I think if you're going to take on the Chinese you do it from strength. And we have much more strength than they do,” he said. “Look at 211,000 jobs on average the last three months, this economy is very strong.”
Whatever happened to capitalism and free trade?
I wasn’t aware Cramer was an economist? Show me 5 actual economists who think a tariff war is a good idea. Like legit economists with economics degrees. Tradewar is good for politics, but no country has ever survived protectionism.
Competitive markets can also create excesses, of course. The housing crisis of 2008-09 offers a painful example.
Watch the movie The big short. Better still, read the book. The problem was dishonesty in Wall Street. If the proper rules had been followed, the pain could have been avoided.

America’s trade deficit is the gap between how much in goods and services it imports from foreign countries, and how much it exports. Not a half a million dollars, not 12 cents. We lost $800 billion a year on trade.
The U.S. did not “lose” $800 billion a year on trade. They simply didn’t make that much and think that if things were fair their piece of the pie *could* be that big. Just like if I work at Walgreens for $20k/year, that does not mean I lose $350k/yr because I’m not working at facebook.
So we import more than we export and increasing the cost of doing business in America will....? Lower prices? Generate more demand?
