I have been at FB 3 years I am trading my youth and health for money. If it wasn't for TC I would leave on the spot. It's a few years gig till I hit $1.5M nest egg. For people in their 40s, would you trade 4 years of 20s and 30s for $1.5M? I am 29 now another 1.5 years to go before I hit $1.5M TC: $650k..E6.
I understand the youth part, but why health? Are you ill?
No not really. You don't know when you will check out. Best to enjoy life as you go along. I had a chance to work international when I was 30. Turned it down. 10 years later I still 'plan' on doing it but know it's just a pipe dream at this point.
65h/w is not tooo bad. Just quit drinking and sleep more as possible
The stress and such is all about how you are responding to the environment. The good news is you have complete control over how you respond. Get a therapist and they can help you understand and sort it out. They have then on-site at MPK and they are fully covered by Lyra. FWIW it is not worth it.... But you can fix it
Not always you have control. I am in Ads and we have constant SEV due to Teams moving fast. It's been a shithshow but we are rewarded very well. SEVs directly impacts ads revenue.. we also just had another reorg.
I mean you can't stop the SEVs or the reorg, but you can control how it affects you... If that makes sense. No one is going to die, you aren't going to get fired and your rating will be fine. You can always switch groups...
Yes.
I'm amazed by our field sometimes. Somehow we can develop skillsets worth a small fortune but are totally ill equipped when it comes to thinking critically about life.
Nothing worths that much imo.. it's all capitalism
If you're an E6 at that age, you're probably smarter than the average crowd. Don't work hard, work smart. Stop giving all your mental energy to your employer, keep some of it for yourself. Spend time to learn about investing and passive income. Look into real estate or stocks. Assuming you've ~1M in assets, you could invest some of it and easily generate enough passive cash flow to offset a good amount of your monthly expenses. Try to find jobs with better work life balance. Invest in yourself and in your financial education. In the long term, you should optimize for job satisfaction/personal happiness rather than salary.
I don’t understand this post. You can have high TC, stay healthy, have a life, and get laid.
I work 60-65h/w, high stress, constant SEVs.
Did you ever think that you could tone that down to 50hrs
