I work as an Quant Associate in Goldman Sachs. My TC in India is 65 Lakhs INR per annum. I'm pretty happy with my life here, go out with friends, have a girlfriend and spend time with family. I'm 25 Y/O. Recently I applied to a US team internally and got an offer based in New York. They're ready to support my visa and relocation through internal mobility. However I'm still considering the decision. The offer they've made is ~280K USD and I'm not sure if it's worth leaving my Bangalore salary to New York where I don't even know anyone. The only thing that's being a problem is my relationships here and my tendency to feel that NYC might be a good option in my 20s. I might not get this chance again (it's difficult in Goldman Sachs). Please highlight both positives and negatives people who've done it. #goldmansachs #google #newyork #bangalore #swe #softwareengineer #america #india #amazon #microsoft
We need to stop madness of desi L1 candidates when locals are searching for jobs. Stop #L1 scams right away
What're?
Lol if you were good enough they would hire you over L1 candidates. Stop crying and get gud
280k nyc is good compared to your blore salary. I would have said otherwise if you earned 2cr
Adobe has no idea what he’s talking
Very possible. I lived and worked in nyc and bay area and now in Bangalore
Base can’t be that much. I assume base is 30L and the rest is bonus.
Base is a little higher, but yeah 65 is including bonus
Yoe - 2 or 4 ?
4
@Op Can you provide TC breakup for India and US ? Also YOE
YoE-4 For India- 40 Lakhs base, 25 Lakhs bonus For USA- It's based on an estimated bonus
You should go explore. You can always come back.
Are you from IIT?
US is best to live.
You will save maybe 30 lakhs here and 60 lakhs there. You do it for 5-6 years and return- you will be maybe 2cr extra in long term. But is it really worth it? You will easily save 2cr extra in your mid 30s. But the life, people, marraiges of cousins and friends, nephews growing up, visa hassles, food. Just ask yourself is it really worth it?
I was in a similar situation and decided to stay back due to the same reason. Though OP will probably save 1cr+ there so financial stakes are huge too. Probably, the decision lies on individual preferences. Another factor which made me opt against it was the household chores that you've to do in US along with your already hectic work.
In NYC with 280k he won’t save 1 cr. 47% tax. Approx 145k left. 5k is the monthly expense in nyc minimum. 80k would be the approx saving
