Transition from Software Dev to IBM Offering Manager

I wanted to move into Product management (Technical) to get end-to-end exposure of a product. Wanted to learn in this side of the industry which will give experience in PM side. Reasons for doing this: 1. Future prospects: Applying for FAANG like companies require a good experience, which I will gain if I transition now 2. Might move back to India given the uncertainty. PM roles in India have more scope and salary-range. Esp. supply for PMs is less when compared to software devs. Seeing growth in career YOE: 7yrs Any suggestions and thoughts? #productmanagement #offeringmanager #productmanager #ibm #faang #amazon #india #usa #transitiontoproduct #pm #product

Why not try to move to FAANG as swe then move to PM? You already have 7 years exp to try and clear interviews. You'll be starting over in OM/PM and have to spend time to learn the job then spend more time to study for interviews. If you are able to move to OM at IBM I suggest being careful and very picky about the team and responsibilities. Half of IBM OM jobs (or more) do not do a regular PM job as the industry roughly defines it. More PMM & Sales Ops.
