I have a technical background, but I am interested in switching into a PM role. What's the best way for me to make the transition? Is an MBA or Product Schools the best approach?

The most effective approach I've seen is simply getting hands on experience doing the work. Find ways in you're current job that you can apply a PM approach. Where can you be more customer focused (even internally), how can you design/ represent your teams work differently, etc.? An MBA can be a nice addition, but having demonstrated your ability to do the role has more credibility and is a lot cheaper. I'd also recommend finding out a bit more about what folks are looking for in the specific company or team you're hoping to join. Some desire/require an MBA while others see it as academic and less relevant.
