I have worked at TikTok US core tech for 3 years. AMA.
I just turned down Google offer(strong hire as per Google recruiter + good team match) by informing the recruiter that I’m scared of the horror stories (slow career trajectory, increasing politics, not beating offers or not giving fair market value without offers etc.), CME recruiter experience and that I won’t change my mind. Obviously was a bit diplomatic here. She responded with an essay about how rules are set by compensation committee, anonymous platforms are unreliable and that it’s a very small minority of people who tend to amplify the negative aspects of their Google experience. I responded - “I’d love to work at Google in the future, but only if I see change in the positive direction. I wish you the best of luck in bringing that change.” I know this won’t make much difference. But even if 50% of people turning their offer down give similar reasoning, it will probably ring some bells in upper management. And they would get back on track as earlier - beating offers/fair market value, timely promo, more eng driven culture and good hiring experience. Follow ups: 1) "Aren't your criticisms also valid of MSFT where it seems you're staying? Seems a bit weird to get as far as offer stage with these objections - you could have not scheduled the first interview." I had better offers so just accepted them. I would have acted the same even if I did not have the offers. But I still believe in what I posted. Google was a great company and now it's becoming mediocre. (Turning down Amazon’s offer (Tech Industry) https://us.teamblind.com/s/pVEwxufH ) #tech #google #careertrajectory #offer #politics 3) "What was your prep strategy? Which company did you choose?" Basic coding, system design and behavioral prep (there are better prep posts in blind, just search interview prep) You give enough interviews overtime you either become better or learn how to game the interviews.
The post was just deleted. Don't know if blind is run by Google. In any case, the story is true. Hence reposting. Like the comment and post so it reaches enough audience
Recruiter was probably pissed she won’t get her bonus

Maybe you shouldn’t have joined Microsoft then as politics at Microsoft is way more than Google lol And maybe you shouldn’t have interviewed at all then lol

Aren't your criticisms also valid of MSFT where it seems you're staying? Seems a bit weird to get as far as offer stage with these objections - you could have not scheduled the first interview. Also the criticism of not paying fair market value seems a bit misplaced considering they're significantly beating your appreciation-adjusted current comp.
Is this a troll on a post about turning down amzn offer
