I have a PM interview coming up for twilio segment and wanted to know if any twilio employees have heard of any layoffs coming or if you think twilio may end up doing layoffs. Don’t think I’ve heard them doing any in the past but I could’ve missed it. TC 109 base #twilio #pm #productmanagement #productmanager #layoff #tech
Haven’t heard of layoffs here and don’t think they’re very likely
Thanks.
Attrition is so high at Twilio there isn’t a need for layoffs. Besides that they have a ton of cash in the bank
Thanks. Forgot to mention it’s under segment. Not sure if that makes a difference or not
Segment is even safer. They are the high margin growth factory for Twilio and getting a lot of investment
No
Are you in segment as well?
Looking for insight on the team I’m interviewing for. Have the HM call tomorrow
Twilio is getting more tight-fisted with cash. Salaries are not very competitive and I've heard of initiatives being canceled. So far I've only heard of a couple of layoffs.
This person doesn’t know what they’re talking about and is misattributing some local event or overgeneralizing. No prioritization decisions - including hiring/HR - have been made as a result of macro economic environment or profitability goals. The business is running as usual, and decisions are being made as usual
Not according to Jeff's video!
Not likely at all. People have been put on PIPs but Twilio isn't in a position to layoff employees due to high attrition. What Segment product are you interviewing for? Journeys? Engage?
I didn’t get the role. I’m interviewing for a new role tho. Data catalog. HM call tomorrow.
This role isn’t in segment I think. At least the Job description doesn’t say it’s under segment
Hiring freeze is happening, and they are rethinking current open roles. We're in for some restructuring, and it's not going to be pretty.
I just had an interview on Friday 😭
Are they rescinding outstanding offers?
I accepted an offer w Twilio and was supposed to start in two weeks. Was notified today by HR that they are delaying my start date by 1 month. Officially freaking out now that they may rescind.
At least they said 1 month and not rescinded. Fingers crossed for you
I doubt they’ll rescind, I think they want to keep you on the H2 books
My HM reached out to me and gave assurance. I feel better now. I hope things go well now.
They laid some people off today but idk how many
😭😭
I know :(

Satya vs Sundar
I don’t know if I would leave Microsoft for Twilio. More stability will come at a premium and that’s not where it’s at
Yeah I totally get that. I’ve been thinking that as well but apparently the range they’re offering is 145 to 195 base which is way higher than what I’m at now.
Fair, and it’s hard to give that up, but remember their stock could down the crapper faster too. Definitely interview, but evaluate without rose colored glasses because people are finding out what total comp looks like when stocks crash, and MSFT is widely considered one of the most stable places to be. That could change too, but in the present it holds true
