If anyone wants inside information, Twitter's goose is cooked. If you own any Twitter stock, then sell while you still can. In messing with Trump, they've opened the Pandora's box. There are two possibilities, either Twitter will back down or it'll prevail. The problem is that Twitter is doomed either way; well not really because if they back down then it'll be business as usual. However with the leftists stroking Jack's balls and his ego, he won't back down and that's when shit hits the fan. Let me explain what happens if Twitter prevails, given that they've made it their business to be the brokers of Truth or Facts. The problem is that now they've inherited liability and any Tom, Dick or Harry of a lawyer will tell you that's the last thing that you'd ever want. Once you start fact checking one person, you need to fact check everyone, in essence you need to build a clone of the great firewall of China. And if you fail, then you're stuck with liability. Much as you may want to hate Zuckerberg, he's not an idiot. The reason tech companies want to run platforms is that they have plausible deniability, kiddie porn on their site, deny liability. Terrorist material, deny liability. People defaming someone, deny liability. But once you embrace liability, then you are going to be sued left right and center by people who are negatively impacted by the content on your platform. From running a world wide messaging platform with a few thousand employees, you've gotten in the business of employing millions to censor communication. Twitter wasn't an extremely profitable business even before this mess but now it's doomed. Now, with that in mind answer the poll and share your thoughts. #twitter #socialmedia
Not really, the media does this all the time and they don’t get sued by anyone. Most lawsuits against network are thrown out of court. You think Twitter’s legal team didn’t think through this?
Newspapers have only like a few dozen editors each at most to keep tabs on. Twitter has billions.
There's a reason media companies are mostly dead and not multi billion dollar companies
Lol dude I want what you’re smoking 🚬
Op is 100% correct. Good post.
Section 230 allows social media companies to enforce their TOS. Twitter’s own TOS states "You may not use Twitter’s services for the purpose of manipulating or interfering in elections or other civic processes. This includes posting or sharing content that may suppress participation or mislead people about when, where, or how to participate in a civic process." So they are well within their rights to add flair to twitter posts
Section 230 only protects **Politically Neutral** platforms. Twitter are going to be sued, fined a shitload and then go back to normal
Trump is an Airhead. He will keep tweeting until he’s out of office. Twitter is not going anywhere. Every big internet tech company goes through this at some point.
He will tweet when he’s out of office as well until a stroke takes away his motor functions. Then he’ll hire an assistant to tweet insults and troll through whatever communication mechanism he has left. And even after he’s left this mortal coil, he’ll have a bot created to carry on his trolling.
I don’t know op, but the gauntlet has been thrown. May the best man win 😂
I was with OP until they used the Trumpian vocab "leftist"... Then they lost all credibility and I just laughed.
What is your proposed alternative label for that set of people with a left political ideology, Mr. Fartman?
Trump badly needs a deflection.
From what?
From his glaring incompetence against a pandemic.
Facebook implemented half-assed fact checking with none of the liability you’re claiming Twitter will inherit. Seems like quite the flaw in your statement, no? Also using terms like “leftist” in 2020 reveals your blatant partisan agenda here.
What do you honesty think is going to happen? If you think the president is going to be able to do jack shit about being fact checked then you’re as dumb as he is.
But but freedom of speech is a right /s
