Twitter or Amazon for Software Engineer

Given similar TC and good teams for both, is there a perception of quality of engineers coming out of one over the other? Also, any other thoughts when making a decision? Amazon team is in Alexa but not in the same org. TC: 230k for both. 4 yoe.

I would say Alexa would be good if its AI/Knowledge Engineering, rest may not be as cool as you think about it from outside. In that case I would choose Twitter over Amazon‘s frugality principle and poor wlb.

Amazon has added value for having a wider variety of things you could be interested in and working on.

Twitter. Better perks and refreshes. Seems like their stock is doing well.

Amazon. Lot's of different things to do.

Won't you say there would be a chance to come back to Amazon since the growth potential for Amazon is also huge but that at this point in time, Twitter is s growing well too? Just wondering what you think

I am sure there will be open spots at Amazon. Aim for the SDE3 whenever you decide to interview - it is somewhat sweet spot and gives comfortable amount of independence from the manager or team.

Haven’t worked at Amazon, but Twitter is great. Great culture, good wlb, good people.

Amazon as a company is less damaging to society

If you value perks and an employee friendly culture (which includes your vesting schedule), Twitter any day. Engineering reputation is a toss up depending on what team you get at Amazon - Twitter engineers are generally highly regarded. Tons of ex Googlers
