Two Job offers

After intense job hunting in consulting world for about 4 months. I got 2 job offers. Company A ( my 2nd preference) sent official offer letter. Company B ( my 1st preference) sent verbal offer via email but no official letter. They said that there are delays due to system issues and they will be sending official letter asap. How long should I wait for them. I don't want to be in a position of losing both opportunities and be back to square one. Any suggestions on how to handle this frustrating situation ?

You can contact them and insist to give you a written offer, explain to them that you are considering other offers with a deadline.

Just ask. I know you don't want to but it's the best thing you can do for yourself. If they really can't get you an offer letter by your deadline (standard is like 3 days to 2 weeks, often correlating to size of company), you may want to rethink company A.

You need to do both. Buy time with company A. And accelerate company B. Tell company A that you are wrapping up interviews with other companies "next week" and ask them what the expiration date on the offer is. Tell company B that you've received a competitive competing offer which will be expiring soon...

"Verbal offer via email" - like an MP3 attachment?
