Two jobs while WFH

With the WFH situation, we aren't required to be in the physical premises of our employer's office. What stops me from having two jobs and just working both of them? Twitter now has permanent WFH as well. Even after the shelter in place restrictions are over, I could physically go to one job and be "WFH" at Twitter. Assuming I could manage the workload, I would essentially double my TC. Let's say that it didn't work out for some reason, I could just quit one of the jobs and return to normal. I'm a US citizen so I don't have any issues with work sponsorship or anything like that. Is there any reason I shouldn't try something like this? Is there any way that the two companies would find out about each other? What am I missing here? #wfh #covid

There are plenty of programs which track your employment for verification purposes when applying for credit, mortgages, etc. It’s seems quite likely one of those would pick up the dual employment. They may or may not report it to the employer

I used to be in a coder hostel where guys used to do this. Day job was safe and paid typical SF money. They were also full time employees at well funded startups that didn't care too much about due diligence

I have a buddy who did this (both remote positions). Pretty much doubled his tc

Most companies have a moonlighting agreement that typically precludes you from working for a competitor or for another company during normal business hours. Would you get caught? Possibly? How much do you value your job? Tech is a small world, people talk, people have several connections at various tech companies, it's not unheard of for some of your coworkers to jump ship to the other company or have friends at the other company you're working for which could expose everything.

General Dynamics BobTBuildr May 18, 2020

You don't have to work for normal business hours. Work at night and weekends or early in the morning. Don't work for a competitor.
